This September during Milan Fashion Week, a major exhibition will celebrate the legacy of Gian Paolo Barbieri (1935–2024) — one of fashion photography’s greatest masters, whose work helped shape our modern vision of beauty.
For over 60 years, Barbieri captured women in a way that was sensual, cinematic, and utterly timeless. From Audrey Hepburn’s grace to Naomi Campbell’s power, from Christy Turlington’s elegance to Donatella Versace’s glamour, Barbieri redefined how beauty was portrayed in fashion. Even Vivienne Westwood sat for his lens, in a portrait now hanging at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
Opening September 25 at Zurich’s new central Milan HQ (through Jan 15), Eternal Elegance – The Timeless Photography of Gian Paolo Barbieri will showcase his most iconic images alongside previously unseen work from the 1960s to 2000s. The show reveals Barbieri’s genius in turning fashion into a celebration of individuality, sensuality, and the art of being beautiful.
