Preview

The Lambert Collection was born at the initiative of a gallery owner and collector, Yvon Lambert, who has always been very interested in creation an research most contemporary. Without stopping to the established values, he has made his life pioneering and continues to be passionate about today’s artists, by multiplying the opportunities for discussions and meetings.

The reception at the Lambert Collection of works and research by artists in residence at the Casa de Velázquez, the Villa Kujoyama and the Académie de France in Rome is naturally part of the programming of an institution that has repeatedly offered its walls to recently graduated young artists, during the exhibitions “Rêvez! And which has always been attentive to the diversity of contemporary creation.

The Lambert Collection had the opportunity to showcase some of its masterpieces around the world, including Japan and Italy, at Villa Medici, during a memorable exhibition. It welcomes today with great pleasure in Avignon the fruits of residences lived in Kyoto, Madrid and Rome. It is pleased to offer a wider visibility to these works and their authors. An unprecedented dialogue is thus proposed between these works and the works in the Yvon Lambert collection.

The signatory of these lines, former secretary general of the Académie de France in Rome, is absolutely convinced of the importance and the opportunity of the residences that France offers abroad to artists and researchers, hoping that the Collection Lambert will thus contribute to a better understanding of their indispensable role, and sincerely thanks Cécile Debray, the event’s curator, and the teams of the three participating institutions for this new and particularly stimulating collaboration, carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the region Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur, the French Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts.
