The Silver Eye : LUMIPAN by Jacques Revon

Preview

I wanted to offer you this little discovery in the form of a story about film photography.

For a long time, I have carefully preserved old virgin emulsions (glass plates, films and even old silver chloro-bromide papers… left to me by my father, a former photographer and they can still be used!!.

So, this afternoon, I took this 6X6 /120 wide axis 12 exposure film from my precious little box and loaded it into my Rolleiflex. Just to know if this emulsion had resisted and survived through all this time.

Indeed, this LUMIPAN film was manufactured between 1935 and 1952 by the LUMIERE company.

Well, as we still like to talk about film together, you see the magic still works almost 80 years later, and who knows maybe even more? So go figure.

Oh of course, these images are far from being images that we would dare expose, but I like like ounce in a while, to bring to the surface images of today, like those which I fixed this afternoon on emulsions from yesteryear.
