For a few years now, private sponsors and patrons have been taking over from institutions, regional bodies and magazines in the financing of photographic festivals. Arles is the best example of the phenomenon. Without its patrons, the festival wouldn’t have the same envergure and this is why we wanted to dedicate today’s issue to these oft forgotten patrons. We asked the same two questions to each of the seven principal Arles sponsors:
