“If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change.” The Leopard, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa

Three of the 28 photos, almost one-tenth, are of the same event, the protests against France’s recent decision to allow gay marriage. It’s a sad, perverse pleasure for me. All these people defending the status quo, old minds in young bodies, incapable of independent thought, not yet liars themselves but already telling lies. The way they dress so strange, like “clones,” like clowns. At least we can recognize them. Meanwhile in Afghanistan, women’s rights are being restricted, if not disappearing altogether. Good old Prince Charles still looks like he doesn’t understand a thing, and with good reason! The English face an existential problem—can you eat rabbits?  Ukraine, a martyr country with a criminal past: between 1917 and 1920, between 100,000 and 150,000 Jews were killed in Poland, Russia and the Ukraine. Special attention should be given to Laurent Van der Stock’s series on South Sudan. These clothes on the backs of skeletons. Bravo Le Monde for taking the financial risk of sending a photographer far away for a story.

Have a nice week.
