These images of garbage are a part of a ten-year long project titled American Reclamation, by photographer Stephen Mallon. Together, they cover many aspects of the recycling industry ranging from cement recovery, electronics, paper, steel, tires, trains, ships, and the repurposing of one of the largest landfills in America. It is intriguing how all of these thrown-away materials become, in images, somehow magnified.
