Di Jinjun (b. 1978 in Shanxi Province) has chosen to go against the current of our era and its flood of digital photographs, using instead a 19th century process, wet collodion, to create a series of striking portraits entitled Sophists. A sophist is a keeper of knowledge, which the sophist communicates orally in the way of the ancients. Who are the sophists in Di Jinjun’s portraits?
