Samuel Hense: A l’épreuve du visible

Preview

It is said of the skin that it is a living protection. It is a physical envelope setting the limits of our body. It’s a link to ourselves, but also a bridge between us and the others. The skin communicates, a link toward the sensorial world.  This series of photographs tells the story of a body and a skin. A different skin, burdened with a genetic illness. External marks and inside wounds  of which the skin becomes the memory.  It is also the story of a woman for whom her body is a simple image and not a real body which feels and communicates.

These poses are for her like a river leaving its bed, making emotions  to surge with the will to be the witness of her illness, or rather her « event» as she prefers to say.
