Diogenes
This series does not seek to explain a pathology, nor to act as a witness or prosecutor of a situation. It is simply a matter of photographing this theme like any other subject, without hierarchy or judgement. The exclusive use of the 50mm lens allows for a restricted frame that faithfully reflects the reality of the place: it does not seek to open up the horizon, but rather exposes the enclosed space, the withdrawal, and the invisible confinement within which a life has taken root.
The aim is to photograph in a raw, unadorned manner, without artifice or staging. By focusing on fragments and on the poetry of juxtaposed objects, these photographs refrain from cataloguing or mapping out squalor.
The sole intention is to uphold the dignity of the individual by capturing their world with an accurate gaze.
The photography seeks to offer a breath of fresh air: that of not imprisoning this existence a second time.
