In June 2016, the Harmony of the Seas stepped out of the shipyards of Saint-Nazaire. 80 years before, France launched the most beautiful liner in the world: TheNormandy.

Galerie Argentic, in Paris, presents a new series of photographs taken by Roger Schall, who was the official and exclusive photographer of the maiden voyage of the Normandy in May 1935. Chosen by Lucien Vogel, creator of the prestigious magazine VU, Roger Schall covered the whole epic of The Normandy, since her construction in the shipyards of Saint Nazaire until her triumphant arrival in New York on June 3rd, 1935. He witnessed the elegance of the French standing by  political and artistic personalities of the moment such as Colette or Blaise Cendrars.

One that has been called the most beautiful liner in the world was also the fastest in crossing the Atlantic, beating her British and German rivals. This exhibition brings together the talents of Roger Schall and an event that had a global impact and was the ultimate demonstration of French talent in the 30s.
