Gérard Rancinan is probably the greatest contemporary “academic” photographer, but very few people realize that. He is the Jean-Léon Gérôme, the Fernand Cormon, the Bouguereau of the fixed image. Go see his exhibition which is held at the priory of Vivoin until July 22: it is a declaration of love for this movement.
35 years ago, I had the opportunity to produce one of his best reportage: Rois sans Royaume (Kings Without a Kingdom).
It was already a photographic fresco worthy of Gervex and Cabanel!
