The beautiful and disturbing figures of Marlous van der Sloot (Netherlands, 1986) allow her to explore the human body through opposite and complementary perspectives. The proximity evoked by her images, charged with feelings and emotions, is counterbalanced by a sense of oddness sprung from the unusual postures and gestures of the characters. Hence, the artist comments on the estrangement of human beings in a society that favors reason over feelings.
Las figuras bellas y perturbadoras de Marlous van der Sloot (Holanda, 1986) permiten investigar el cuerpo humano bajo perspectivas opuestas y complementarias. La cercanía que provocan sus imágenes cargadas de sentimientos y emociones se contrarresta por una sensación de extrañeza provocada por las posturas y gestos insólitos de los personajes. La artista critica así la alienación del ser humano en una sociedad que reniega del sentir en nombre de la razón.
