For his first photographic work, Khun Vannak, young Cambodian photography student from Studio Images questions his own identity in reference to both the beliefs of his country and the actual situation in Cambodia. He knows how numerology is present as is gambling- in Cambodian culture. He also knows, as he says, that “Today, we all are also numbers.” So he photographs his own body and his own face with his motorcycle’s license plate, his phone number, his date of birth, and a barcode. The result is a series of enigmatic self-portraits whose shadow can be a combination of numbers becoming a fragile sculpture.
