Playtime is over for some, though for others it’s never truly over. For those who’ve had their fair share of fun this past summer, especially at photo festivals and/or on white sandy beaches, it’s finally the season to put to work all of the new ideas and projects that have sprung from our fun.

Squeezing out a beautiful idea is what Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot do quite nicely for Love Magazine’s issue #8, in a very serene yet straightforward manner, where intensity and focus are key. And in the recently launched 7000 Magazine, some very interesting ideas have popped into the mind of Jean François Lepage in his shots for the publication’s 2nd issue.

Peter Lindbergh too had a brilliant idea, in this image from M le Monde featuring Querelle Jansen in September, while for Muse’s issue 31, Guy Aroch found a way to magnify artist Marina Abramovic in a photo that subtely evokes another era.

Photographer Robi Rodriguez shows us what “ready for action” can look like in this portrait of a supposed bank-robbing model for AnOther Magazine’s latest Fall/Winter issue. Meanwhile, Numero Tokyo’s September issue features model Crystal Renn channeling some higher powers of her own in the New York City subway, beautifully snapped by Laurie Bartley. And Thomas Whiteside illustrates another side of the striking Crystal Renn in Russian Allure’s September issue.

Striking poses is a practice that Thomas Krappitz handles very well in these images for Italian Marie Claire’s September issue, conjuring up notions of an elegantly styled raindance. Benoit Peverelli also partakes, but in a different mood, in this moment of softer motion, photographed for ELLE China’s July issue.

In the Danish Cover Magazine’s September issue, Henrik Bulow captures the art of enunciation, in his shot of Alla Kostromichova opening up, while photographer Gregory Harris works on the art of persuasion with model Shannon Click in Dazed and Confused’s September issue. In Love Magazine’s latest issue #8, Mert & Marcus go directly to art in its purest sense – and quite literally – on model Saskia de Brauw.

In French Numero issue 136, photographer Viviane Sassen gets inspired making her own canvas with model Ava Smith, whereas others simply play with the art, in this image photographed by actor Orlando Bloom of his model/wife Miranda Kerr for T Magazine’s latest Fall issue. And Camilla Akrans knows a thing or two about playing, as she directs model Kati Nescher in a balancing act in Vogue Germany’s October issue.

Photographer Katja Rahlwes brings together strong colors in this image of model Nadja Bender in Purple’s Fall/Winter issue, and in Vogue China’s September issue, photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin show that sometimes two is better than one when it comes to all that is beautiful.

In the eyes of the beholder, they say, is where beauty lies, but who could argue the beauty in Vincent Peters’ shot of model Eniko Mihalik published in Spanish Vogue’s September issue, or in Peter Lindbergh’s image of Elisa Sednaoui for Italian Vogue’s September issue?

Model/photographer Helena Christensen captures a charmingly quaint moment of actress Liv Tyler spinning for Vs Magazine’s recent issue, while photographer Serge Leblon shoots model Ogla Sherer for ELLE US’s October issue, moving at her own pace in the city.

Also inside Love Magazine’s recent issue #8, photographer Mikael Jansson works hard on heating things up outside the city in these sultry images of models Doutzen Kroes and Kendra Spears clearly concerned with the windshield of their car.

And where there is concern, there is love, especially when it has to do with Karl Lagerfeld and his cat, Choupette, in a self-portrait he shot for the September issue of American Harper’s Bazaar. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery.

So what would one expect but for Choupette’s career to take off, and just in time for Paris Fashion Week. Choupette clearly steals the show in this rather steamy image with Laeticia Casta for V Magazine’s September issue.

Someone’s certainly having fun.
