The 24.39 fair returns for its second edition, coinciding with Paris Photo. This independent fair, directed by Barnabé Moinard, brings together nearly fifty international exhibitors at the Pavillon Wagram (47 avenue de Wagram, Paris 17th arrondissement) for a unique day dedicated to vintage and modern photography.
As we approach the bicentennial of the invention of photography, the 24.39 fair aims to reintroduce the world’s photographic heritage into the contemporary consciousness by revealing the richness and diversity of original prints. In a market dominated by digital images and contemporary practices, this fair offers a breath of fresh air, an essential counterpoint. It embodies another way of appreciating photography: through its history and materiality.
A name, a history
“24.39” is a code name: it evokes:
The fifteen founding years of the 19th century, between 1824 and 1839, during which photographic experiments multiplied until the medium was officially invented. Today, as a new era of photography dawns, 24.39 positions itself as the essential counterpart to fairs devoted to contemporary photography, with a perspective rooted in history and resolutely turned toward the future.
Vintage photographs: a rare, accessible, and discerning selection The fair offers prints dating from the 1840s to the end of the 20th century: daguerreotypes, salted paper prints, albumen prints, silver prints, etc. Prices range from a few dozen euros to several thousand, with a large selection between €300 and €3,000, making this fair as welcoming to collectors as it is to curious visitors and young enthusiasts. In 2025, the event is expected to welcome about 1,000 visitors.
Among the fifty exhibitors are galleries, dealers, collectors, as well as experts and renowned auction houses. Exhibitors come from France (20), Europe (15), including Germany, Italy, and Belgium; the United States (5); and Canada (1), placing the 24.39 fair in an increasingly strong international dynamic, alongside fairs in Amsterdam, Vienna, and the Senigallia Biennale in Italy.
