Alain Bublex is one of the most singular French artists of his generation. As a town planner, a researcher and a traveller, he has reinvented since the 90s the idea of landscape, city and architecture. As an artist, his work has always been underlined by photography combining it (or not) with digital drawing.
Fascinated by the Japanese and the American landscapes, Alain Bublex has crossed both countries from North to South, from East to West, taking thousands of snapshots and creating a gigantic database in which he picks-up specific images to print them directly or to metamorphose them combining real landscapes with imaginary ones, existing buildings with utopian architectures.
For its first participation at Paris Photo, Galerie Vallois presents a solo show that reveals Alain Bublex’ vision of Landscape running from classical silver prints to “Demi-Paysages” (“Half-landscapes” redrawn by computer before being printed) and “Fantômes series”. His most famous series such as “Arrêts Soudains”, “Ryder Project”, “Plug- in City (2000)” or “Plan Voisin de Paris”are also exhibited along with older works never exposed before highlighting the evolution of Alain Bublex’s photographic practice since the 90s.
