For the final presentation of the day, France’s “digital champion” at the European Commission explored the issues of intellectual property and photography, in particular the opportunities afforded by the digital economy. His proposals served as a fine counterpart to Daniel Barroy’s opening remarks, and set the stage for a future conference: Babinet places photography at the center of the questions of ownership and the digital economy.

Born in Paris in 1967, Gilles Babinet is a French serial entrepreneur. He currently serves as “Digital Champion”, or head of digital challenges, for France’s European Commission.
