Musée de l’Elysée

Preview

In 2010, 144 prints by the French photographer Gilles Caron were bequeathed to the Musée de l’Elysée by the Fondation Gilles Caron, established on December 19, 2007, by his wife, Marianne Caron. The author of several photo essays shot in Israel, Vietnam, Biafra, Northern Ireland, Czechoslovakia and Paris, Caron was considered one of the most talented photojournalists of his generation. He died at the age of 30 in Cambodia on the road from Phnom Penh to Saigon while working on what was to have been his final report. The first collection of his photographs was published posthumously. A collaboration between the Musée de l’Elysée and the Fondation Gilles Caron led to a major exhibition of his work, Gilles Caron: Le Conflit intérieur, in late 2012, along with a book published by Photosynthèses.
