The Beach, Le Havre, August 2022

No smoke without fire in photography. Everyone finds a way to prove to themselves that they were somewhere …

I know my neighborhood well, I walk there three times a day with my dog, it’s the ‘Beach’ of Le Havre. This is where I wander within a radius of fifteen hundred meters around my home. A daily “world tour”…

I practice photography for a long time. On Gallo-Roman sites as an archaeologist, as a reporter for Parisian openings, as a visitor to artists’ studios, as a portraitist, as a lover of still lifes… As a stroller…

Things and people interest me in front of my lenses and put into images. With or without details, everything speaks of it’s world, leaves traces in bodies and disguises (the ‘fashion’). Destiny passes and passes before us… Solo or in groups… The profiles that advance on the ‘boards’ give voice to the fabrics, the legs, the feet, the ages, the hands, the luggage… At this authorized level of indiscretion, it’s hard to imagine the photo as indifferent or hostile, a videographer friend of mine would say.

Over the years I have gone from the Alpa Reflex to the Pentax, Minolta, and Rollei film cameras… Today I stroll with two cameras and two fixed lenses from Fuji (23 / 50 mm ). Over time, I allow myself to believe that all cameras are good in good hands and that all subjects are friends of light and shadow. M.D.
