Les Magasins Généraux in Pantin present “Des femmes dans une maison” (Women in a house) by Hélène Altmann and Sophie Deiss, an exhibition organized in collaboration with the Maison des Femmes.
A dive into the Maison des Femmes of Saint-Denis, a unique center providing support for women in distress or victims of violence.
« Des femmes dans une maison » was born from the meeting of two women with other women. A French workshop at the Maison des Femmes of Saint-Denis, founded by Dr Ghada Hatem to help women who are victims of violence. Two volunteers journalist Hélène Altmann, who taught French classes there for 4 years, and photographer Sophie Deiss. Together, they are committed to making visible women who are usually unseen, and telling, in words and images, lives that are those of heroines.
Exhibition in collaboration with the Maison des Femmes. With photographs by Sophie Deiss and texts by Hélène Altmann. With the support of ENGIE, Kering and BETC.
