Lausanne : La mémoire des images, autour de la collection iconographique vaudoise at Musée de l’Elysée

Preview

Founded in 1896 by the pastor Paul-Louis Vionnet (1830-1914), the iconographic collection of the Canton of Vaud became part of the Musée de l’Elysée’s collections in the 1980s. It now contains hundreds of thousands of images covering the history of the medium. This collection chronicles the beginnings of documentary photography applied to the inventory of local heritage and the history of the Canton of Vaud.

This presentation of the iconographic collection, produced in conjunction with Silvio Corsini and Olivier Lugon, is part of the policy to enhance the collection between the Cantonal and University Library of Lausanne and the Musée de l’Elysée. It will be accompanied by a publication and will be the subject of an international symposium that will take place on November 5-6, 2015, devoted to museums and collections of visual and sound documents from the turn of the 20th century, organized by the universities of Lausanne and Geneva.

This exhibition is also the subject of a first book for children published by the Musée de l’Elysée.

The exhibition is made possible thanks to the support of  Memoriav, la Loterie Romande, the Fondation Leenaards and the Fondation Fern Moffat.
