Kehrer Verlag released the book by Matthieu Zellweger titled A Soulful of Whispers/Ressacs – The Plea of the Unrealized/De ce qui ne fut pas.
At its core, this publication meditates on the fragile, transient nature of memory. It speaks to nostalgia as a universal condi- tion—one that transcends geography, culture, and generations—binding individual experience to a shared emotional landscape.
It takes us to the crossroads of reality and an imaginary, dream-like—albeit plausible—world. As one grows older, it appears all too natural to look back, fleetingly at first, then more deliberately. What did I achieve? What must I focus on? What are my next goals? Such interrogations are kindled by a growing sense of nostalgia, of tenderness for bygone years. Visually, the project embraces blurriness and crepuscular lights as deliberate storytelling strategies. These elements draw the viewer into a subjective, introspective space, mirroring the constant flux inherent to the passage of time.
The images resist clarity, instead inhabiting a liminal zone where perception falters and imagination takes hold. In this way, they become metaphors for memory itself: elusive, im- perfect, and constantly in flux. The goal of this journey is to explore and uncover some of these dark, lingering whispers of mystery, to offer pointers to a deeper reflection on life and its full realization. This body of work reminds us that nostalgia can be a powerful grounding force, inviting us to find solace in the impermanence of time.
The photographs are complemented with a prologue written by Manu Katché, the acclaimed French drummer, author and composer.

From the prologue by Manu Katché :
The eye captures what the soul feels.
In this book, the images do not document, they drift. Each photograph opens a suspended space.
Blurred like a hesitant memory, a whisper from the past or a sketch of the future…
I wish you a peaceful and luminous journey,
where one gets lost and sometimes finds oneself again.
