My climb up Mont Ventoux – Petrarch
Today I made an ascent to the highest mountain of this county that we rightly named Ventoux, guided only by the desire to see the extraordinary height of the place. For several years I have been feeding this project because, since my childhood, as you know, I was led to these places by the destiny that leads to human things. This mountain, which one discovers from far away and from all parts, is almost always visible.
And men will admire the peaks of the mountains, the waves of the sea, the vast course of rivers, the circuit of the ocean and the movement of the stars and they forget themselves. “
