Vivian Maier is everywhere today, but one of her exhibitions is particularly interesting: Myth in the Shadows – The Eye of Vivian Maier at Ira Stehmann Fine Art in Munich until January 15, 2026.
Maier was an intensely private person, a woman of European sensibilities and fierce independence, she was outspoken, politically engaged, and entirely uninterested in material wealth. Despite her modest lifestyle, she amassed a vast personal archive filling storage lockers with found objects, books, home films, audio recordings, and over 140,000 negatives, prints, and film rolls. Most of this work remained undeveloped and unseen during her lifetime
