In Memoriam : Hans Feurer (1939-2024) : Women

Preview

Hans Feurer grew up with his two siblings. His mother had to take care of the children by herself, her husband having left when the children were small. Feurer says that a woman, from his point of view, is always the stronger one.

In 1973, his resume pictures for childhood friend Susi Wyss showed a strong, elegantly dressed woman standing on a rooftop looking over the Paris skyline. The well-known Wyss called herself »the happiest girl in town« while others claimed that she was the sex queen of Paris with the most famous lovers. Feurer’s portrait of his dear friend might have helped cement that reputation.

Hans Feurer presents women as fighters who are much stronger than men, and he was never interested in showing them differently in whichever context they are portrayed.
