The International Center of Photography (ICP) hosted an opening reception for the new exhibition Face to Face: Portraits of Artists by Tacita Dean, Brigitte Lacombe and Catherine Opie on the evening of Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Sponsored by DIOR, the event drew many artists featured in the photographs and videos on view in the exhibition—with some special guests coming face to face with their portraits on the walls of the museum.

About Face to Face
On view January 27 through May 1, 2023, Face to Face: Portraits of Artists by Tacita Dean, Brigitte Lacombe and Catherine Opie is organized by renowned writer and curator Helen Molesworth and presents portraits of luminaries in the arts by three of the most prominent portraitists of our time. Creating an atmosphere of conversations held just beyond the frame of the images, the exhibition features more than 50 photographs by Brigitte Lacombe and Catherine Opie, and two films by Tacita Dean, with bracing, intimate, and resonant portraits of compelling cultural figures including Maya Angelou, Richard Avedon, Louise Bourgeois, Joan Didion, David Hockney, Miranda July, Rick Owens, Martin Scorsese, Patti Smith, Mickalene Thomas, Kara Walker, and John Waters, among others.
