Pacific Insomnia

Pacific Insomnia is an ongoing photographic series created in French Polynesia.
Every year, traveling funfairs arrive in Tahiti for a few weeks before disappearing again. For many island residents, they offer a rare form of entertainment and become part of a seasonal ritual.
What initially attracted me was their vintage atmosphere. The rides, neon lights and painted decorations seem frozen in another era, creating a striking contrast with contemporary island life.
Photographed at night, these spaces began to reveal something beyond celebration. By isolating figures and fragments of the fairground environment, I became interested in the tension between spectacle and solitude, excitement and silence.
Pacific Insomnia explores these fleeting moments where a place designed for escape becomes a stage for introspection. Set in the unique context of the South Pacific, the series reflects on nostalgia, impermanence and the way collective dreams linger within forgotten spaces.
