Magical Delta
‘Magical Delta’ is an ongoing photographic project that documents deltas as fragile ecosystems, through a deliberate methodological framework: analogue photography guided by my neurodivergent perspective.
This combination is my own system of protection for the future of these ecosystems. Analogue negatives contain no metadata. The neurodivergent view, in perceiving and representing the landscape, generates images that are unreadable to geolocation algorithms. The result is my activist practice: images that reveal the magic of a place whilst protecting it from algorithmic identification, which accelerates uncontrolled tourism and environmental degradation. What I photograph of the delta is real, and it is a kind of magic that algorithms cannot recognise.
In the delta, conventional categories dissolve. Sky and earth, fresh and salt water, life and decay merge into landscapes where nothing is fixed or immobile. My neurodivergent perception does not correct this instability; it inhabits it, producing representations of the territory faithful to its nature rather than to rigid neurotypical thinking.
The project operates at the intersection of environmental concern, photographic materiality and non-normative epistemology. It asks what role the analogue medium can play—not as nostalgia, but as a future-oriented tool—in the protection of ecosystems that we are still learning to see.
What we choose not to see today shapes the worlds we inherit tomorrow.
