How humans, to ward off fate, but also out of fear of facing the harshness of the present or the uncertainty of the future, idealize the past and invent a marvelous historical novel…
Human imagination is limitless. he invents stories to survive reality, angels and paradises out of fear of emptiness, idealize his own past, rewrite his own historical novel. So, in his fertile imagination, truth has little room, “…beautiful, naked women surrounded by happy, screaming children splashed and sang in the clear waters of rivers beneath enchanted glades, strong, valiant men went hunting and brought back abundant game, the meadows were green and the sky was blue, the trees were full of red berries…” This is the idealized image of a world where women often died after their first childbirth, 25 years old men already had no teeth, and died horribly in permanent wars, the cold, epidemics, and poverty wreaked havoc in historical reality. Life for most people was often hell.
But humans have this ability to reinvent their own history to better live in the present. But also to better convey their message of a promised and perfect world!
And even today, despite the progress and spectacular inventions of humans, but also their tyrannies and cruelties, they continue to invent gods, angels, and enchanted landscapes. Fear will never leave them, but isn’t fear a formidable political weapon?
