Preview

The ninth edition of Circulation(s), festival of young European photography organized by the association Fetart will take place at CENTQUATRE-PARIS until June 30, 2019. This festival aim is to bring out the talents of young European photography and to introduce the public to contemporary artistic creation. It presents an exhibition of about forty European photographers. Here are our favorites!

Minimal Republics is a series of actions on the landscape, which responds to a performative exercise:

  1. appropriate 100m2 of land
  2. draw a border
  3. inhabit it

The results are “ephemeral micro-states” whose limit always responds to geometry, the most artificial criterion for a border, whose duration does not exceed 24 hours and whose only inhabitant is the artist himself. Ridiculous and absurd states, documentation in the form of photography and aerial video  invite us to think about the artificial and ephemeral nature of any border.

Minimal Republics is part of STUPID BORDERS, a series of conceptual projects that questions the idea of ”nation” and highlights the strange sense of possession one has over the Earth.
