This year, Vladimir Vasilev and Colin Delfosse are among the laureate of the SFR Young Talents. Here are their portfolios.

. Animals

The “Animals” series is a reflection about man and animality. “The human desire to oppose and look for a “fair” place between Heaven and the Earth has certainly led to the birth of cynicism, aggressiveness, impudence. Being equal or “more equal than the others” probably created a conventional separation between abundance and shortage, between the rich and the poor, between the “I” and the others, between men and animals. Vladimir Vasilev highlights the question of the influence of the human being on the planet. Is man still able to create principles, rules of life for everybody, and to follow them?

Vladimir Vasilev was born in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. His passion for photography was born after an internship done at age 15. Under pressure from his parents, he started studying engineering and stoped in 1998 to dedicate himself to his passion. It’s in the “Karkelanov” advertising studio in Sofia, Bulgaria, that he learned his trade as an assistant photographer and lighting engineer. In 2001, he settled in France. Independent photographer since 2008, he dedicates himself to his favorite themes which are Bulgaria, gypsy camps and ghettos, in the form of reports and portraits.

. Kurparti prestige

“Kurparti prestige” is a health center built in 1980 on the Black sea, in the name of the Russian- Czechoslovakian friendship. The building under construction is then suspected by the Americans of being, during the Cold war, a launchpad for missiles. In the heart of Crimea, a few steps away from Yalta, one of the masterpieces of Soviet architecture comes to life: the Kurpati sanatorium. The building is full of Soviet know-how in terms of welfare, healthcare and leisure. Everything is gathered here for a healthy and convivial stay. Today in spite of the vicissitudes of history, it remains unchanged. Standing still in time, it still welcomes holidaymakers who belong to trade unions.
Colin Delfosse was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1981. He is a journalism graduate and he chose documentary photography . Julie David de Lossy was born in Brussels in 1984. As a political sciences graduate she immersed herself in documentary photography to better target the political, social and environmental questions.
