Cannes : Arthur Aubert, Photographiste

Preview

From a conceptual perspective, the work of Thomas Chang, Roy Zhang, René Zinuga and Staudinger caught young photographer Arthur Aubert’s attention and inspired him to produce his staged photomontages. The surreal world of Dali and Rembrandt’s experiments with light also play an important role in the artist’s creative process. But the greatest influence on Aubert’s subjects comes from ancient texts on philosophy and mythology, from Socrates and the myth of Narcissus to the Seven Deadly Sins. These subjects are a response to Aubert’s psychological and philosophical reflections on mankind. Aesthetically and technically speaking, his compositions are the result of imaginative research and a desire to convey his feelings into images, provoking emotion visually.

Aubert is exhibiting 13 photographs at the Hôtel Majestic Barrière in Cannes through May 15th, 2015.
