Preview

YellowKorner presents the exhibition “PAPARAZZI” with the photographs by Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain, magnifying the garbage of celebrities. This exhibition is to be discovered in the 100 galleries of YellowKorner around the world as well as at La Hune, the historic bookshop- gallery of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris, for an event exhibition. Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain succeeded in renewing “Paparazism” with genius.

With the distribution of these photographs, YellowKorner offers the greatest number of people possible to acquire a certified, numbered and limited edition of this famous series, having been exhibited worldwide; at the European House of Photography, at the Center Pompidou Metz or at the Universal Exhibition in Milan.

In the privacy of celebrities

“SHOW ME YOUR GARBAGE I WILL TELL YOU WHO YOU ARE”

Thus was born this famous series combining paparazzi practices and sociology; that YellowKorner gives back here to the greatest number of people by distributing them and making them available for sale in its 100 galleries around the world.

The work in this series on two-eyed celebrity trash was inspired by an article published in Le Monde in 1988 by a professor of sociology. The latter then carried out a study devoted to our consumption patterns and asked his students to collect rubbish from 10 French families for 1 year.

Fascinated by this project, Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain, who met while working for Paris Match, in turn decided to “grab the trash” of people they know well … Celebrities!

It all starts during a photography session with Serge Gainsbourg during which Pascal Rostain collects the singer’s garbage. Back at the studio, they order the content to make an artistic piece and immortalize it. The duo of famous paparazzi realize that what is thrown is particularly eloquent.

They are continuing their approach in France by photographing the trash cans of personalities such as Brigitte Bardot, Jacques Dutronc… and then head to Los Angeles.

From paparazzi, to artists or even investigative journalists.

“We are witnesses to our times, to our consumer society.” Pascal Rostain

Their rudology project mixed with photography is still going on today and has been extended to the garbage cans of anonymous people all over the world, giving us an edifying testimony to the consumer society.

There is always a sad balance sheet: plastic seems to be irreparably present. “We harvested the” Garbage from the sea “by observing a Breton beach after the tide. The result of the pollution observed is edifying.”

Indeed, after the iconic trash cans, Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain open a new chapter in their approach, more universal and ecological.

It is by collaborating with the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) that this study of globalization project materializes. They then collect the bins of thousands of anonymous families in nearly 50 countries. It’s a giant herbarium of the planet that has built up over the years.

Their work thus gives birth to an infinite concept. Traveling from journalistic work to artistic work – since the duo also explored household waste from Daniel Buren, Pierre Soulages or Jeff Koons – Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain even arrive, according to some, to the work of archaeologists.
