Autograph : James Barnor : Iconic Photographs 1950s – 1970s

Preview

From Afro-diasporic glamour in London’s swinging sixties to the vibrant streets of Accra, pioneering Ghanaian photographer James Barnor captured societies in transition – as Ghana moved towards independence and London became a cosmopolitan, multicultural metropolis.

Autograph presents an online gallery of limited-edition prints of Barnor’s photographs from the 1950s–1970s. Through street and studio portraiture, his work from this period traces cross continental connections, creating a vivid record of social and cultural change, captured with both warmth and optimism

James Barnor: Iconic Photographs 1950s – 1970s is an online gallery. It is not an exhibition at Autograph’s gallery space in Shoreditch.
