Best Of 2021 : Arles 2021 : Les Filles de la Photo : In what state is photography?

Responding to the invitation of the Myop collective, Les Filles de la Photo are organizing a conference on July 7 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., in the courtyard of the Archdiocese, as part of the Rencontres d’Arles 2021 under the title “In what state is photography ? ”.

Committed for the last four years to the defense of photographers and photography, Les Filles de la Photo invites you to a dialogue around the situation of our ecosystem, the conditions of creation and assignment, the status of authors or the future of images.

Two photographers with rich and complementary backgrounds – Charlotte Abramow and Stéphane Lagoutte (also director of Myop), – will thus discuss with Raphaële Bertho, historian, Sabrina Ponti, photographers’ agent, – also both co-presidents of the Filles de la Photo – and Erika Negrel, General Secretary of the Diagonal network. The debate will be moderated by Karin Hémar, journalist and consultant in creative strategy.

Based on precise testimonies, the speakers will address issues affecting the profession more generally, such as the conditions of training, remuneration and recognition of photographers today, the promotion and influence of photographic creation throughout the territory and abroad or the protection of images and their authors in a context of increased insecurity in the visual arts sector.
