Lezioni d’Abisso is a short film that explores the Freudian concept of the uncanny: a space of tension where attraction and mystery intertwine, and the unknown begins to take on familiar contours. The film brings the Ettore Molinario Collection to life, transforming Casa Museo Molinario Colombari into a fluid, living organism, imbued with memory, soul, and desire.
Casa – not only a place to inhabit – becomes a metaphor for the unconscious: a time capsule preserving traces of inner chaos, dreams, and hidden impulses.
In a dreamlike, Fellini-inspired surrealism, this intimate universe takes shape in the female body and figure, the origin of all emotions, from the most luminous to the darkest.
Through a visual language that evokes the great masters of cinema and photography – from Carlo Mollino and Pier Paolo Pasolini to David Lynch – Lezioni d’Abisso weaves visions, unease, and desire into a direct dialogue between the artwork and the collector-performer, beyond hierarchy.
Directed by Tommaso Ottomano, with artistic direction by Beatrice Papa and produced by Kitten Production, the film features music from the iconic CamSugar catalogue. Its visual identity is defined by costume design by Sara Costantini, cinematography by Marco De Pasquale, and set design by Michela Croci.
