OLA / Anne-Cécile Paredes : Growing Old

Preview

Growing Old (Vieillir in French) is a performative film produced by the visual arts company OLA. “Six old people take over the public space, putting themselves in danger with humour, fragility and tenderness through actions and gestures they no longer dared to make”

The film requested two years of collaboration between OLA, PRISMS and the nursing home of Sablonat (France).

OLA is a collective funded by Anne-Cécile Paredes (photographer and author), with Mélody Gottardi (filmmaker, editor), Johann Mazé (musician), Sophie Fougy (visual artist) and Julia Al Abed, Geneviève Rando, Ingrid Hamain. OLA describes its mission:

“We carry out artistic projects for and with individuals. Our collaborations are multiple and cross the fields of art and social work. We meet the inhabitants of cities, often those who live on the margins, on the border, but who nevertheless constitute the movement, sometimes the soul. We create devices to see and hear, and sometimes even to taste, to meet them, to build a memory, to preserve traces. Our artistic projects are designed to convey the signs of the cultures that make up our globalised world and its histories. From individual to collective narrative, questions of translation and transmission are at the heart of our work”.
