The 50JPG Triennial explores contemporary society by using photography as its main theme. Since 2003, the triennial 50JPG (50 jours pour la photographie à Genève – 50 days for photography in Geneva) offers, each time, to explore a specific, contemporary, socio-political problem. Centred around a thematic exhibition, the event spreads out across a vast constellation of more than 30 partner sites in Geneva and its surroundings.
After Representation of Work/Work of Representation in 2003, Photo Traffic in 2006, The Revenge of the Photographic Archive in 2010 and fALSEfAKES in 2013, which was a great success, Caméra(Auto)Contrôle spreads out from an ambitious main exhibition. This forms the hard core of 50JPG’s 2016 edition by linking the approaches of more than 60 international artists. It plunges us into the burning issues of drones, selfies, social networks, data processing and other systems of control exercised with photo or video cameras.
