Preview

101 Faces is an immersive podcast that explores Reza’s portraits and photographs, revealing the human stories and the socio-political and historical contexts that accompany them.

Episode Description:

“We explore the profound upheavals that marked post-Soviet countries. Through the story of Gennadi Vassilievich, we highlight the fractures left on the population by the collapse of the Soviet Union. A soldier in the 1950s, he wore tattoos of the emblematic figures of communism on his chest, a symbol of allegiance and survival. We revisit these destinies shattered by the emergence of capitalism, from the steppes of Central Asia to the shores of the Baltic, delving into the economic, social, and cultural realities of the former Soviet states.

With Kevin Limonier, lecturer in geography and Slavic studies at the French Institute of Geopolitics and deputy director of GEODE, we explore how societies rebuild after the collapse of ideologies.”
