Xavier Guardans, Self portraits

Creation of life, art, music and writing comes from the movement of emotion, the sensitivity of one’s soul and the ability to be touched by the human spirit and natural beauty. Expressing that feeling through art and hoping to relate to other human beings is the tricky part. Yet if one can dive deep enough into the universal consciousness and find the intangible treasure amongst the shining stars, one is lucky. That treasure, of course, is the magic that is all around us. It’s constantly revealing itself through beautiful landscapes, gorgeous mountains, raging seas and summer winds.

The offer to shoot nudes in the dessert of Utah caused a skeptical reaction in my mind at first, even though Guardans’ vision rang with truth. But as soon as we landed in the surreal and at times unearthly desert landscapes, I surrendered. I embraced the earth: its story, its beauty, its magic and unconditional love for humans. I felt its giving nature and its breath; I felt home. We can learn a lot from Mother Earth; she generously supplies and provides us with everything we need without asking anything in return. Unrestricted, she blesses us with her abundant gifts.

Xavier Guardans understands this all very well and translates that notion through his timeless images. Every tiny detail matters. Every little object serves its far-reaching purpose. Just like nature, Guardans‘ photography is a dance of sacred geometry between the elements and the human soul. Beautiful and elegant.

Guardans steps out of his comfort zone in order to capture the most untouched and magnificent reality. He feels the rhythm of the present, the beating heart of the planet. He senses the unseen nuances of the terrain and recognizes the medicine it needs. He finds that medicine in beauty, artistry, grace and delicacy.

Xavier’s art sings about life on this planet in this particular time and for the generations ahead. He captures the moment tastefully, documenting the footprints of our journeys, our survival and our continuation. Body of woman in the bosom of the earth: two ultimate sources of creation. The divine feminine, gentle as water and strong as a rock, they are inseparable, they are one.
