Offerings & Sacrifices
This is series that encourages the viewer to see beyond what is depicted in the image – a concept known as ‘equivalents’. When I had the rare privilege to study ‘the art of seeing’ with the master photographer Minor White while at M.I.T, he imparted the importance of sequencing a series of photographs, both for exhibitions and publications, to heighten the meaning of individual images thru grouped associations. Utilizing the flexibility of web site designs, I have created a series of “Progression” to incorporate those learned sequencing technics. To allow the viewer to explore the evolving flow between images, I constructed these Progression to display images in pairs. When viewer advances the sequence, only a single new image will advance at a time, thus create a new paired set. This will enrich the viewers interpretations of each image as the changing pairings keep evolving enhancing the ‘equivalents’ experience.
