Wilde Private Zürich : Nan Goldin

Preview

Wilde Gallery in Zurich presents Nan Goldin (b. 1953 D.C., USA). The exhibition highlights artworks from various series created by the artist throughout previous collaborations with the gallery over the span of two decades.

Goldin has emerged as one of the most influential photographers of the late 20th century, renowned for her deeply personal and unreserved portraiture. Through her intimate images, she creates a visual autobiography that captures herself and those closest to her, exploring themes such as sexuality, addiction, and death. Beginning as a teenager, Goldin used photography as a means to cherish her relationships with her subjects and as a tool for raising awareness about issues that were important to her. In 2022, filmmaker and Oscar winner Laura Poitras released the first artist portrait of Goldin in the documentary “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed.” This film received widespread acclaim, winning the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival and garnering a nomination in the Best Documentary category for the 2023 Oscars.
