URBAN Photo Awards is an established international photography contest that, since 2009, has offered photographers from all over the world an important platform to showcase their talent. The contest culminates in the Trieste Photo Days festival, an event that takes photography beyond the web with exhibitions and events dedicated to the winners. The festival, which began in 2012, considers URBAN its main ‘cultural reservoir,’ in addition to hosting the contest’s award ceremony, the final exhibition of the contest, and a series of personal and group exhibitions of the best photos and classified projects.
URBAN Photo Awards is an international contest open to everyone! Whether you are an established professional photographer or a passionate amateur, from anywhere in the world, your vision is welcome. There are no age or experience limits: what matters is your creativity, your ability to express yourself through the language of photography.
How to participate?
Participating in URBAN Photo Awards is simple! You have several options to present your shots:
– Single Pictures: Enter your photos in the Streets, People, Spaces, and Creative categories. You can upload as many photos as you like in each category.
– Projects & Portfolios: Submit a project composed of 3 to 12 photos that communicate with each other (free theme).
– Mark Power Special Prize: Projects / Portfolios / Series freely inspired by the documentary photography of Mark Power (from 3 to 20 photos).
– Book Award: Submit a photographic book draft (PDF, 40-180 pages, free theme).
– URBAN Photo Arena (Under 35): Young photographers can participate for free with a single photo (free theme).

What you can win?
The total prize value of URBAN Photo Awards 2026 is over €48,000:
– Photographer of the Year: The title of Photographer of the Year will be awarded to one of the first-place winners from the Streets, People, Spaces, and Creative thematic areas.
– Category Prizes: Awards for the first-place winners, honorable mentions, and special recognitions in the Streets, People, Spaces, and Creative categories.
– Patricia D. Richards Legacy Award: A special award dedicated to photographers Under 35 who participate with at least one portfolio.
– Press Award: The winner, selected by a jury of representatives from leading industry publications, will receive significant branding and promotional opportunities.
