Tokyo Photo 2012 : –Torch Gallery

Preview

TORCH Gallery was founded in 1984 as a gallery for contemporary art and photography. The gallery was among the first to promote staged photography in Europe. Since then the gallery has developed into a platform for all kinds of contemporary art, but a significant portion of the gallery’s artists are still photographers. TORCH strives to present technical innovation in many media but nonetheless remains faithful to the classical crafts of analogue photography and oil on canvas. This approach allows us to work with artists as diverse as Loretta Lux, Terry Rodgers, Wouter Deruytter, Ellen Kooi and Teun Hocks. Each of them represent a wholly different approach to their medium

The gallery holds about seven exhibitions a year at its gallery space in the Jordan district of Amsterdam. Besides these presentations the gallery takes part in many Art Fairs worldwide. Ranging from Pulse Miami to Art Rotterdam. TORCH also prides itself on taking risks with young fairs such as the recently concluded Unseen Photo Fair in Amsterdam, and the soon to open Tokyo Photo. Through this approach the gallery can rely on a broad base of fans and collectors.
