TORCH Gallery was founded in 1984 as a gallery for contemporary art and photography. The gallery was among the first to promote staged photography in Europe. Since then the gallery has developed into a platform for all kinds of contemporary art, but a significant portion of the gallery's artists are still photographers. TORCH strives to present technical innovation in many media but nonetheless remains faithful to the classical crafts of analogue photography and oil on canvas. This approach allows us to work with artists as diverse as Loretta Lux, Terry Rodgers, Wouter Deruytter, Ellen Kooi and Teun Hocks. Each of them represent a wholly different approach to their medium
