When François Hollande called everyone to hang the French flag to their window, that Facebook proposed the filter, many refused to do so because the image of the far-right nationalism remains too persistent.
Then I saw my friends from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and others display it, those friends who experience war on a daily basis, who often flee it and find themselves on the road of the refugees. I thought of the image they have of it and the one that we often have…
I then wished to reappropriate this ambiguous symbol, by approaching it not as a nationalist symbol, but as a cultural symbol, of a multiple culture, which wealth comes from a mix with the elsewhere, with others.
