The best front pages of the Phnom Penh Post

Preview

The daily press, all around the world, suffers from a deficit of quality and of curiosity about the images it publishes and the creativity of its photographers. The informational documentary photo, often little concerned with aesthetic choices, continues to serve as an illustration for the news, often very little concerned with the artistic dimension of the photography and the creations that circulate on the Internet. The Phnom Penh Post would seem to be a case apart in this mediocre panorama. A real concern exists for the quality of the image, the choices called for, the space, and, almost unique in today’s press, the decision to devote the first page of the newspaper to a large format photograph, simply because it is well done or astonishing. From fifty or so of last year’s first pages, we pay homage to a policy of the image of everyday life and to its photographers.
