The Analog Festival 2024 – #12

Preview

The Analog Festival opened on March 14th until June 15th with an exhibition at the Hôtel La Belle Juliette in the 6th arrondissement of Paris (solo show – polaroid – until June 11th).

The festival represents 18 exhibitions; 3 conferences; 1 free day of discovery of the collodion technique; 2 open-door of artist studios; a living room ; an afternoon of practicing a Polaroid transformation technique, and finally a day of portraiture in a studio.

This program takes place in Nantes, Périgueux, Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc, Toulouse, Arlempdes, Malakoff, Meudon, Bagnolet, Brussels and Paris with 69 exhibitors.

Born in Nantes under the name Expolaroid in 2013, The Analog Festival is now directed from Paris since its emancipation from the Polaroid firm in 2022, which was also an opportunity to bring old alternative techniques into its field of activity, in addition to the snapshot.

This 12th opus will be rich and diverse with a representation of the province which is gaining momentum, driven by a group show in Périgueux since the selection of Elizabeth Herman’s visual for the official illustration. Her formula “Périgord is good for my body”, full of mischief, sums up the spirit of this festival which brings together young people, not so young people, beginners, experienced people, in “first market” galleries or in alternative places, and who now mix a set of historical alternative techniques in addition to the traditional instant pictures. You will discover a program of exhibitions, events, conferences and open-door workshops which will delight you as much as collectors and representatives of institutions looking for emerging talents to acquire now. Although traditionally centered on the month of April, this programming actually covers the entire spring in order to allow as many places as possible to offer their background, the work of their artists or to welcome new proposals.  Not to be missed a strong representation of the collodion technique which will be the subject of 3 exhibitions, 3 conferences, 1 workshop and the presentation of a work, demonstrating its singular character as the most poetic technique through its rendering of the photographic processes. It honors the know-how, the artisanal gesture and the technique of the camera which represents both the history of photography and the praise of time which fights against the profusion of images whose veracity is increasingly challenged by the interference of computer algorithms.

In addition to the historic partners who support it (the Sajin Photo agency; the graphic designer Collorant Studio; the publisher Obcd Visuel; the graphic designer bjan; BotNation AI and the online media Polaroid Passion) the association which supports the festival is delighted to welcome in 2024 the Nation Photo group of stores, the Union of Professional Photographers association as well as Studio Ambrotype & Co as partners.
