Never forget!
25 years later, the photos, the memories, the emotions are everywhere in the press and social media. We chose to take a different perspective with this photograph of Jean-Pierre Laffont taken in 1975. Looking at the powerful majesty of the Towers, it is still hard to believe what happened, let alone accept it. Jean-Pierre writes:
I was not in New York on September 11th. We were in Paris trying desperately to get our daughter Stephanie on the phone, as she lived very close to the towers, and thank god we did get her on the phone and knew she was safe. I had, however, photographed the construction of the towers, and this one became an iconic photo. I took it in October 1975. Two homeless men squat in the shadow of the recently completed World Trade Center. New York City was on the verge of bankruptcy and the World Trade Center sat largely vacant, unable to find companies to fill its large office spaces.
