¡Salvados!

Preview

Mathias de Lattre is a young photographer of 23. His series ¡Salvados!, about Iberian greyhounds, is now on view at La Belle Juliette. Beyond the beauty of the portraits, visitors will discover the sad fate of Galgos and Podencos, two breeds of Spanish greyhounds. Thousands are subjected to intense training regimen to improve their performance. Here, “man’s best friend” is abused, tortured, abandoned and left for dead. Aitch, Doug, Gazha, Lili and Reina are all survivors. They were all adopted, and although some are still fearful, Mathias managed to have them pose for portraits, now the subject of an exhibition and book.

This project, initiated by Alain Bisotti (Hôtel Paris Rive Gauche), aims to raise awareness about the plight of these greyhounds. A portion of the profits for each book sold at 29€ will go towards associations fighting on their behalf. The small-format catalogue with its refined layout was funded through 100 donors on the platform KissKissBankBank.
