Rikki Reich: The Voice of the Silence

Preview

The photographs of The Voice of the Silence stand as a testament to one person’s unique perspective of an event that would lead to two wars and change the world. The tragedy that is September 11 is much too important to history to allow for only a media interpretation.
The photographs of The Voice of the Silence were created… composed more akin to that of a symphony…with Ms.Reich seeing the photographic narrative as notes on a staff…with their deep valleys and slow, building cadences…. than that of a photographic work.
The photographs of The Voice of the Silence take one on the journey of an “everyman” into the Heart of Darkness concluding with the Bodhisattva of the “The Clock, 2001” leading the protagonist on the path to enlightenment.

As a young girl Rikki Reich began taking pictures in her head before she knew what a camera was….attempting to memorize moments she wanted to remember. She trained in fine art photography and photojournalism in college. She has worked as a curator and photo editor for the media and taught photography at The International Center of Photography and lectured on photography at various colleges.

She pays particular attention to messages she receives in her dreams…and nightmares.
